TMWC had 10 athletes competing at the 2022 Fargo National Wrestling Championships and we finished with 3 All-Americans. Ryder Yoshitake of San Marino earned 5th place in Cadet Greco and went 3-2 in Cadet Freestyle.
Ryan Arrington, also from San Marino, also finished 8th in Jr Greco. Arrington injured his shoulder in a tough wrestle back round and the USAW staff defaulted him out of competition, but not before he earned All American status. Ryan will end his high school senior year with 2 AA honors (NHSCA Sr. Nats and Fargo,) to go with his 4th place finish at the CA State tournament.
TMWC’s third All American was Johanna Forman. Forman, who is from Montclair, finished 4th in Girls Jr Freestyle.
Taylor Tan of San Marino was super close to reaching All-American status in Cadet Greco, losing in the blood round by 2pts.
Overall, Team CA scored the most tournament points of any state and won the Cadet Boys Greco and Jr Girls Freestyle team championships. Overall, this year’s Fargo Nationals was an excellent showing, especially seeing it being TMWC’s first full season of freestyle/Greco since the 2019 season!
Other TMWC wrestlers that competed at Fargo and represented California were: Ellablu Wagner, Ethan Grubach, Nikita Smatov, Adelaida Fernandez, Sophia Gomez, and Georgia Silvar.
